The agency has named 19 students as accused in the case
The students in custody, in connection with the death by suicide of alleged ragging-victim J S Sidharthan, have moved for bail.
The CBI has summoned Sidharthan's father Jayaprakash for recording his statement.
Sidharthan was found dead on February 18, allegedly after enduring severe ragging and mob trials.
The deceased student's father approached the High Court on Thursday seeking intervention to initiate CBI probe.
Jayaprakash visited the hostel of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University while after a meeting with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Dr Kanthanathan and College Dean Dr MK Narayanan were suspended pending investigation after Sidharthan was discovered dead in the hostel washroom.
He alleged involvement of SFI state president Arsho in the crime and declared that he would launch a protest in front of Cliff House soon..
Sidharthan's father Jayaprakash welcomed the inquiry under the judicial commission.
The State government had delayed the transfer of case by a week.
