Land Rover Discovery, the all-new version of the entry-level SUV from British car makers Jaguar Land Rover, is all set to go on sale in India. The price of the petrol model starts at 71.38 lakh and the diesel model at 82 lakh.
Diesel Discoevery generates a power of 190 bhp at 3750 rpm. The 2993 cc engine musters power and quotes a torque figure of 600 nm at 2000 rpm. The petrol version comes with 250 bhp at 6500 rpm and a torque value of 450nm at 3500-5000 rpm. Petrol Discovery has a 2995 cc engine.
First introduced in 1998, the vehicle has had five generations so far, the first in 1989, the second called the Series II update in 1998, the third Discovery 3, launched in 2004 and the last in the line-up in 2010.
The new Discovery is lighter than its previous models and is expected to be a smoother drive. The vehicle is late by a year to reach the Indian market after making its global debut.
