Eyeing Creta, Maruti to launch Vitara soon

Hyundai Creta has been the king of the compact SUV segment for long. No rival has been able to create any hurdle to its growing popularity so far. Now, Maruti Suzuki is readying Vitara, its premium five-seater SUV, to directly take on Creta.

The all-new Vitara from the Suzuki arsenal that was launched in the international market is likely to make its way to India. Premium looks and features are the highlight of Vitara.

The new Vitara is equipped with a chrome-finish grille, a new bumper, LED headlamps and sporty alloy wheels. The interior could be a notch higher in grade than direct rivals. Other features include wood finish, touchscreen infotainment system, ABS, airbags, emergency brake system, lane keep assistant and blind spot alert, among others.

Though Maruti Suzuki is mum on its new car, it is expected that Vitara will be launched in India soon. The vehicle that has been spotted testing numerous times in India is likely to get a 1.6-litre diesel engine that could churn out 118 bhp of power and 320 Nm of torque.

Maruti has been encouraged by the success of Vitara Brezza to bring more SUVs into India. Earlier, it had brought the Grand Vitara to India through the CBU route but failed to find any traction here.
