KSRTC takes out procession of buses damaged in stone-throwing

Thiruvananthapuram: KSRTC organized a symbolic rally of the buses damaged in stone-throwing as a mark of protest against the frequent attacks on the carrier. The buses were taken out in a line from the KSRTC chief's office at East Fort to the Martyrs' Column at Palayam.

The rally was flagged off by KSRTC Managing Director Tomin J Thanchankary in front of the chief office. Thachankary urged all hartal supporters to spare the buses belonging to the public carrier. “Nothing will be gained by throwing stones at KSRTC buses. If you want to protest against the government, attacking buses won’t help matters. It is the KSRTC that has to bear the huge loss,” he said.

As per the latest figures, around 100 KSRTC buses have been damaged over the last two days in Kerala. This has caused a loss of Rs 3.35 crore to the transport corporation. On an average, KSRTC suffers an annual loss of Rs 10 crore in this regard.
