BMW i8 looks like a machine from the far future. This car looks nothing like the ones that we have seen till now. The i8 looks more like an advanced concept car or one of those extreme ones that we see in sci-fi movies.

BMW i8 is the best hybrid sports car that is available in India as on date. This machine is a rare package that brings together the best of both worlds. It hits the ton mark in flat 4.4 seconds and delivers a mouth-watering fuel efficiency of 47 kilometres per litre. Those who can afford to spend Rs 2.30 crore can drive back home in this wonderful piece of machinery.

The i8 reiterates B.M.W's leadership in car manufacturing and also proves that it is a company that thinks into the future. While most car manufacturers are busy raising the luxury and performance standards of their products, BMW has increased the lead by putting together a machine like i8 that is ahead of time in terms of technology and at the same time is environment friendly.

Not many cars are there in the world that can do a 0-100 kmph sprint before the count of four. One may be surprised to know that behind the i8's breathtakingly quick performance is a puny 1.5-litre turbo-charged petrol engine. This engine belts out 231 bhp and the electric motor can contribute an additional 131 bhp whenever needed.

When it comes to fuel average, this BMW puts the so-called fuel-efficient cars to shame. The i8 returns an average of 47 kilometres per litre of fuel.

There are three modes in what BMW calls the E-drive system. One can drive it in comfort, eco, and sport modes. The car can be run completely on electric power stored in its lithium-ion batteries and has a range of up to 65 kilometres in that mode. Unlike in other electric cars, the journey does not have to be at a snail's pace in this BMW as it can achieve speeds of up to 250 kilometres an hour.

Like all hybrid vehicles, the i8 is powered by both its engine and the battery. What makes the i8 different from other hybrid cars is that this BMW product is miles ahead in terms of technology.

The i8’s sports car looks are highly appealing and it beats competition in that department. Carbon fibre, aluminium and thermoplastics are used in abundance to reduce the weight of the car and as a result the i8 weighs only half as much as other cars of similar size. A long wheel base, beautiful alloy wheels and LED laser headlamps give the i8 a rich look.

BMW's characteristic kidney grill has been retained. The newly designed bumper and LED lamps along with other finely designed elements make the i8's a completely futuristic design. The vertically opening scissor doors that and the rear-end design put the i8 in the league of sports cars.

The futuristic theme carries on to the interiors and covers the dashboard and the seats as well. The cabin looks like a jet cockpit. The i8 can comfortably accommodate four adults and has got enough space for luggage too.

Buyers don't have to go shopping for bags to suit their new set of wheels as the company provides a premium Louis Vuitton luggage set with the car.

The i8 is available in Kerala also.
