The four are expected to make waves in the market because Toyota, Suzuki and Tata are all planning to come out with new models soon. All these vehicles would factor in the experience that these auto makers collected in India.
Toyota Vios
Vios is to be positioned just above Etios to compete with City, Verna, Sunny, Vento, Ciaz and Rapid. The car would also be made in India for Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia. It is expected next year and would have 1.6 L petrol and diesel hearts.
Toyota Rush
Toyota Rush | Photo: ToyotaWith the Rush, Toyota would enter the compact SUV segment in India. It is expected in 2018 and would help the firm enhance its presence in India. However, the company has not commented on the plan. Even though a 'compact,' the car would have bigger dimensions. It would come with petrol and diesel engines and is marketed in Japan, Malaysia and Indonesia as Daihatsu, a budget brand.
The car, which made its appearance in 1997 has already seen two generations. It can seat seven and would cost about Rs 8 lakhs. The Rush in Malaysia has a 1.4 L diesel engine and a 1.5 L petrol engine.
Suzuki Jimny
Suzuki Jimny | Photo: SuzukiThe Jimny has been in the international market as a compact SUV. The Indian Gypsy was a modified form of the Jimny which has been running in Japan since 1970. The vehicle, which is at ease on road and off it, would be marketed as a sub-compact SUV in India. The vehicle would be made in India for the international markets under the 'Make in India' campaign. The car is to be made in Gujarat and would share platforms with Maruti Baleno and small SUV, Maruti Ignis.
Jimny was revamped in 1981 and 1998 and has been going without many changes thence. The fourth generation would see a lot of changes. The vehicle is expected to come with 1 L and 1.4 L Boosterjet engines.
Tata Hexa
Tata Hexa | Photo: TataTata is to looking to carry forward its success with Tiago with a new crossover called Hexa, which would hit the markets by the end of October. It is to be built on the Aria platform and would have many changes such as bigger grills, air dams, brushed aluminium stripes and so on. It would also have other bells and whistles such as projector lamps, daytime running lights and bigger wheel arches. Able to seat six, the car would have a 2.2 L Varicor diesel engine that produces 154 BHP at 4000 RPM.
