Kannur University to send question papers to college via email

Kannur: Kannur University announced that it would send question papers directly to the colleges via email. The question papers for examinations in PG, UG and BEd courses would be sent through email. However, Kerala Private College Teachers Association (KPCTA) alleged that the university’s latest decision would sabotage the exam process.

The question papers would be sent to the official email id of the college or the principal, a day before the examination. The email could be opened using a password, ninety minutes before the exam begins. This would then be printed at the college to be distributed to the exam halls. The principals of the respective colleges are responsible for conducting the exams. The question papers for the fourth semester BEd exam that begins on 12 May and the fourth semester PG exams that begins on 17 May would be distributed like this. Meanwhile, KPCTA claimed that the questions papers that are opened and printed ninety minutes before the exam begins are likely to get leaked by then.

However, a group of teachers are worried that the exams would go haywire in colleges in distant places where the internet connectivity may be poor. Even though, the guidelines say that the question papers should be printed only ninety minutes before the exam, the time to print the question papers would be scheduled as per the nature of the subject and the length of the question paper. Meanwhile, the university said that in case there are any flaws in the exam procedure, it would be promptly rectified.
