NEET 2020 | Counselling registration to begin today, ESI quota restored

New Delhi: The first-round registration for allotment of seats for undergraduate medical and dental courses on the basis of the all-India entrance, NEET, is set to begin on Wednesday. The registration window closes at 5 PM on November 2, Monday.  

To register for the allotment of MBBS/BDS seats, qualified candidates may log into mcc.nic.in -- the official website of the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC).  

After registration, eligible candidates may fill up their choices and make the payment as prescribed. 

Candidates with a minimum of score of 50 percentile (40 percentile for SC/ST/OBC) can participate in NEET 2020 counselling or seat allotment process. 

In the first phase, the counselling will include, among other categories, 15 per cent seats in the All-India Quota (AIQ) and seats offered by Central and Deemed Universities as well as premier institutions AIIMS and JIPMER.

This round of counselling was earlier scheduled to begin on October 27 but was postponed due to technical error. 

The second round of registration is scheduled from November 18 to 22.

ESI employees' quota valid

The government has also issued an order to restore the quota for children of employees in ESI Medical Colleges.

The seats under the quota will be available from the second round of NEET central counselling, Union Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar and ESI officials informed NK Premachandran, the MP from Kollam.

Board member V Radhakrishnan said that the details of the quota will be published on the ESI website (www.esic.in).

With the favourable verdict of the Madras High Court Division Bench, all the technical issues related to the quota have been removed.

The ESI quota is not included in the first round of counselling starting today because the software needs to be updated.
