Thiruvananthapuram: Though no-detention policy will be applicable to all students till Class 9 in the Kerala state syllabus schools, the Department of General Education is preparing worksheets to record the academic performance of each student.

Plus-One students are likely to appear for examination either in June or July. A decision on including Plus-One marks in the Plus-Two mark sheets will be made later.

The department will soon prepare a detailed set of guidelines for teachers to test the students’ academic performance based on worksheets. The test will be held after the completion of SSLC and Plus-Two examinations.

The worksheet-based test is meant to get an idea of the knowledge each student has acquired through online classes. Classes for students till Class 9 by KITE-Victers are still on. The students will be able to fill up the worksheets electronically.

It has now been estimated that the Plus-One online classes, which began in November, could be completed only by May-June. The department is also considering avoiding classes on the entire curriculum, and following the SSLC, Plus-Two pattern of conducting classes only for focus areas.

Restricting the curriculum to focus areas is being considered since covering all lessons online would further prolong the classes to June, and subsequently delaying the exams, and also the commencement of Plus-Two classes. A decision in this regard would be made only after the conclusion of SSLC and Plus-Two examinations.
