The beast is out: Teaser of Lijo Jose Pellissery's Jallikattu released

Director Lijo Jose Pellissery's latest film Jallikattu is all about an entire village chasing a buffalo running amok after escaping the butcher. The trailer of the film, released on Friday, encapsulates the mood of the rustic thriller.

The 2.13-minute video offers a glimpse of the chaos erupted in the village as the beast finds its way through the woody interiors in pitch dark. In parallel, a sequence involving two men preparing a petition to the district collector gives us hints of the humour in store.

Stunning shots and the spooky music that makes the trailer an interesting watch are more than enough to create curiosity among the waiting audience. The trailer, interestingly, doesn't feature any of the lead characters; a clear hint that the film itself is going to be the real hero this time.

Recently, the film received a thundering response from the delegates at the latest edition of the Toronto International Film Festival after its world premiere.

The film stars actors Antony Varghese, Chemban Vinod Jose and Sabumon Abdusamad in the lead.

Jallikattu's screenplay is done by S Hareesh and R Jayakumar. Girish Gangadharan has handled the camera while Deepu Joseph has edited the film.

The film, based on a short story titled Maoist by S Hareesh, has been produced by Thomas Panicker under the banner of Opus Penta.
