Chic and outlandish, this European abode in Wayanad is a head-turner

European abode in Wayanad
The house dons elegant white hue that stands strikingly in contrast against the surrounding greenery.

Abhilash who works in the IT field has always been fascinated by classy European homes. So, he didn’t have to wrack his brains while drawing the plan for his brand new house at his hometown in Pulppally, Wayanad, Kerala. The exteriors exude the chic elegance of European architecture while the interiors stand out for their minimalism and functionality. The plot is in a place that is abundantly blessed by Mother Nature. The house dons an elegant white hue that stands strikingly in contrast against the surrounding greenery. Shingles are paved on the sloped roof. Meanwhile, cladding tiles have been used to highlight a wall on the elevation.

The family was willing to spend a significant amount of money to design the exteriors as they weren’t ready to compromise on the looks of the house. So, the interiors have been designed minimally so that the budget didn’t overshoot. As the family doesn’t stay here permanently, only the ground floor has been completely furnished. The rest of the house would be furnished when the family moves into the house permanently or whenever they are able to raise a budget.

Designed in 3000 sqft, this fabulous abode has a sit-out, formal and family living areas, dining space, prayer area, and kitchen with work area, four bedrooms, entertainment area and an open terrace.

The formal living area is arranged by ensuring enough privacy. The custom-made furniture pieces perfectly complement the general theme of the house. The family living area and the dining area are arranged as part of the spacious open hall. A TV unit too has been installed here.

The hand railings of the stairway feature the classic combination of steel and toughened glass. The dining table is set just beside the stairway. The wash area, meanwhile, is arranged beneath the stairway to save space.

The stairway leads to a multi-utility area where an impressive library and study area have been arranged.

There are two bedrooms each on both floors. The bath attached bedrooms have in–built wardrobes for storage. The kids’ bedroom is designed spectacularly and is furnished with a cute bunk bed, wardrobes and shelves. The furnishing done in solid wood with a paint finish lends a playful yet elegant look to this room.

The open kitchen is modern and is extremely functional. The cupboards are done in marine plywood with a laminate finish. The countertop, meanwhile, has been paved with nano white.

There are lots of windows in the house through which the amazing climate of Wayanad comes in. The house warming ritual was celebrated in February. As the IT professionals are currently working from home due to the pandemic situation, the owner has moved into his new house where he is enjoying every moment.
