How Sujatha, an IT professional, ate her way to weight loss

Sujatha’s friends are united in their opinion that she is the one who made the best of the COVID lockdown.

Sujatha, friends say, managed to reduce her weight with sheer determination. And, she achieved it while taking care of her twins.

Sujatha was an IT professional in Bengaluru. Her weight shot up from 68 to 85 kg after her marriage and twin pregnancy. Pain in the small of the back and the knee soon ensued. Sujatha said she was sad when relatives and friends said she had gathered weight and when she could not find the fitting costumes for a dance programme in the office.

Sujatha’s diet plans and gym programmes fell flat due to professional pressure and domestic chores. It was then that the pandemic-induced lockdown was imposed. Sujatha said she came to know that a fat-loss and fitness group on WhatsApp was starting a new batch. “My husband, though initially sceptical, offered complete support when he understood that I was keen,” she said.

“The biggest advantage was that I could complete all workout at home and there was no need to go to gyms,” she said.

There was no restriction on diet but Sujatha stayed away from excess sugar. She said she started having food and self-regulated it on the basis of the calories it contained.

Sujatha said she lost 11 kg from her initial 79 kg and could wear clothes that were 10 years old. Sujatha thanks her husband; her mother-in-law who made her ‘diet food;’ and her twin babies for the support.

Now, her friends and relatives cannot believe when she says she had not fasted for weight loss but had eaten well.
