Hello
ICMR has detected the presence of Nipah virus in bats in Sulthan Bathery and Mananthavady.
The minister said bats carrying the virus are present in the Sulthan Bathery and Mananthavady areas.
A team from ICMR, which visited Kozhikode, collected bat samples with the help of experts from the animal husbandry department.
ICMR is also planning to start work on developing a vaccine against the viral disease.
The Indian Medical Association, on the other hand, has advised against the indiscriminate use of antibiotics amid rising cases of cough, cold and nausea across the country.
The ICMR guidelines stated that antibiotics should be prescribed for a duration of five days for skin and soft tissue infections, five days in case of community-acquired pneumonia and eight days for hospital-acquired pneumonia.
India so far has reported ten cases of monkeypox.
The R-value of Mumbai and Kolkata shows that peak is over there and it is becoming endemic while for Delhi and Chennai it is still close to 1, IIT sources said.
The Centre has asked the states to set up round-the-clock RAT booths at different locations, engage medical and paramedical staff, and encourage the use of home test kits for symptomatic individuals.
None of the existing vaccines can totally prevent Covid infection. The vaccines can only reduce the severity of the infection and associated health complications.
