Seasoned actor Irrfan, who passed away recently, had struck a chord with lakhs of moviegoers with his subtle but forceful histrionic skills. The actor got unprecedented respect and regard for the exemplary work he had done in cinema. A small Indian hamlet is paving the way in paying tributes to the legendary actor, who shone bright both in Bollywood and Hollywood.

A small village near Igatpuri in Nashik district of Maharashtra has named a locality 'Hero Chi Wadi' (neighbourhood of a hero) after the actor who passed away on April 29. There was an emotional connect between the village and ace actor. Irrfan was always there for the villagers when they were in distress, and he financially supported the poor families and took care of the educational and health-related needs of their children.

Irrfan was crestfallen after he first visited the village that was in dire straits. Later, he expressed his willingness to help the villagers, said sources who were close to the late actor. Irrfan had gifted books, clothes and rain coats, among others to students of the village. He was particular about helping tribal people of the region.

Moreover, the actor used to visit the village during major festivals. And the villagers had said that at times Irrfan was part of their celebrations.
