Tracing the glorious history of KSRTC with a museum

Kozhikode: It's time to travel down the memory lane and brush up all the facts about the iconic Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC).

Authorities have decided to collect all data on the history of KSRTC and build a museum here. Depots have been instructed to collect as many details as possible in terms of photographs, models, publications, and old documents.

The objective is to pass on the tale of the 82-year-old transport bus service to the next generation.

Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma had launched the bus service, Travancore State Transport Department, in 1938. Sixty chassis and engines were imported from England and the body of the bus was built using local timber.

The bus service began to operate as the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation in 1965. There were 901 buses then. Those who possess any related historical documents can pass them on to the authorities via KSRTC offices.

KSRTC ticket booking app

Meanwhile, a mobile app, Ente KSRTC, for online ticket booking has been launched. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the app and the cargo service of the KSRTC on Tuesday.
