A Rs 100 'worth Rs 1 crore' in relief food packet meant for storm victims

Palluruthy: A Rs 100 note was found wrapped in a plastic cover among curries in a food package meant for victims of the sea rage at Chellanam.

The package was among the parcels collected from the neighbouring Kumbalangi village under the supervision of Kannamaly Inspector P S Shiju, with the help of well-wishers and public activists for the relief of those affected by the storm.

Anil Antony, a policeman at the Kannamaly station, found the Rs 100 note when he opened the package to see what its contents were.

The incident came to the notice of the outside world after Inspector P S Shiju put out a Facebook post with the title 'A Rs 100 note worth crores of rupees'.

"In this day and age when even feeding a banana is put on social media, I bow before the noble heart that placed the Rs 100 in the package to help the victims without hurting their self-esteem," the post said.

Not just the receiver, this will also motivate the volunteers and police officials who want to spread love and care through the food packets. In that sense, the Rs 100 note is worth Rs 1 crore, he said.
