Kottayam: Four members of a family were killed as a bus rammed their car at Cherumchuvadu at Vaikom in Kerala's Kottayam district during the wee hours of Tuesday.

The accident happened as the family was heading the towards the Velorvattom temple at Cherthala in the neighbouring Alappuzha district around 5.40am.

The bus ran over the car and hit a wall, before coming to a halt. The car was completely destroyed after it came under the wheels of the bus.

The Vaikom-bound bus rammed the car that entered the main road from a side street. It is suspected that over-speeding of the bus could have caused the accident.
