Another overworked cop does the vanishing act

Enath: It seems more and more cops in Kerala are getting fed up of their work. A few days after a Circle Inspector based in Ernakulam went missing after a spat with his superior, another made a vanishing act from his quarters in Pathanamthitta district, but only to be located within hours in Kochi city.

Anandahariprasad, a Civil Police Officer (CPO) on duty at the Enath police station had gone missing from the police quarters in Adoor on Saturday midnight. He had left his home after sending a message to the district police chief alleging that he is fed up of life due to work overload. He had told his family members that he was going for Sabarimala temple duty. Luckily, he was found safe in Kochi by his relatives.

The SP, who saw the message on early Sunday morning, informed the Enath sub-inspector (SI) through the special branch DySP. The Adoor police started an enquiry and later filed a case after taking the statement of Anandahariprasad's wife.

Meanwhile, relatives got information that Anandahariprasad was in Kochi. They traced him after a search and put him up in a relative's house in Maradu. Enath police have left for Maradu.

Anandahariprasad was not under any kind of work pressure or overload, said Enath SI S Santhosh.

A CI of the Kochi city police, who went missing following an argument with his superior officer, was last week traced to Madurai in Tamil Nadu. He was later brought back to Kochi.
