Kodumon: A 16-year-old boy was allegedly hacked to death by his friends at Angadical in Kerala's Pathanamthitta district on Tuesday.

The victim was identified as S Akhil, son of Angadical native Sudheesh. He was a class X student of a school at Kaipattoor in the district.

A case has been filed against two minor students of another school. They are also class X students.

The trio often played games together on the mobile phone. The children were mocked while they were playing the game the other day and the vengeance over this led to the murder, according to the police.

The two teenagers asked Akhil to come near to the school at Angadical on Tuesday.

Akhil and the friends got into an altercation at the premises of an uninhabited house. While Akhil tried to escape, they threw stones at him and he fell down. The duo then allegedly hacked Akhil using an axe.

After confirming that Akhil was dead, they buried him.

The gruesome incident came to light after the local people questioned the children, who were found in suspicious circumstances.

The police conducted checks at the crime spot and found the murder weapon. The children have been taken into custody by the police.

District police chief K G Simon, Adoor DySP Jawahar Janard, special branch DySP R Jose, and CI S Sreekumar also arrived at the spot.

The dead body has been moved to the mortuary of the Adoor General Hospital.
