MLA Mathew T Thomas rendered 'homeless' after daughter's family put under quarantine

Pathanamthitta: Thiruvalla MLA Mathew T Thomas is barred from entering his home or meeting his family. He has been therefore left seeking accommodation at government facilities.

The reason for MLA's predicament - His daughter Achu, son-in-law Nithin and granddaughter Annakutty have returned from Bengaluru. They have been put under quarantine at the MLA's house for 14 days. Till their quarantine period is over, the MLA cannot return home.

Mathew spent the first three days at the Thiruvalla TB but had to leave as he is not allowed to stay beyond that period, according to the norms. Mathew then shifted to the MLA quarters in Thiruvananthapuram and stayed for another three days. During this time, he ate food from outside and fell sick.

With that, he stopped eating outside food. The MLA now has to rely on the food prepared by his wife and kept at the gate of the house. Mathew picks up the food and eats it at the TB.

While at the MLA quarters, he had to even prepare his own food.

His wife Dr Achamma Alex and second daughter Ammu Thankam Mathew are also at home. They are not stepping out either.

Mathew buys provisions for the house and leaves these at the gate.

His father Rev T Thomas has been moved to his brother's house.

His daughter Achu's quarantine period will end next Saturday. Until then, the MLA’s ordeal will continue.
