Sreekandapuram, Kannur: Music has changed the life of a class X student from an impoverished family at Kadampanad in Pathanamthitta.

Help came for the young girl after her soulful rendition of a folksong during a Facebook Live conducted by A Kunjikannan Memorial Library at Aduvapuram near Sreekandapuram in Kannur amid the COVID-19 lockdown.

The student took part in the programme from a house in the neighbourhood as her dilapidated home did not have power connection.

After coming to know that the electric connection was delayed as the house did not have a registered number, the library workers looked for other options.

Secretary M A Sajith, and president V V Thamban approached the KSEB Chakkarakkal section office. Enquiries were made at the Kadampanad section office in Pathanamthitta and they were informed that the connection will be provided if the BPL certificate, income certificate, and land tax receipt were submitted.

The help of wiremen's association was sought for the wiring works. After Pathananmthitta district office-bearers too pitched in, the student's house got power connection the other day.

Kadampanad panchayat officials have said that the student will be given a secure house through the Life Project.

Kadampanad pravasi collective donated a television, while Enathu police station collective helped with the cable connection. A person, who saw the live programme, also arranged for online classes for the student with a teacher in Thiruvananthapuram.

The student and the family are thankful for the positive changes in their life due to her music.
