Thiruvananthapuram: Cheques to the tune of Rs 1.66 crore submitted as donation to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) following the 2018 floods have bounced, Finance Minister Dr Thomas Isaac said in the Assembly.

A total of 344 cheques, 44 of which were written for an amount above Rs 1 lakh, have bounced.

A request to reveal the names of these account holders was turned down by the minister, who said efforts to collect these amounts were still ongoing. The account holders have been intimated about their cheques, it is learnt. Out of the Rs 3,226 crore collected through CMDRF, Rs 1,772 crore have been spent.
