Talks will continue, women artistes after AMMA meet

Film artistes Parvathy, Revathy and Padmapriya told the press on Tuesday that their discussion with the office-bearers of AMMA (Malayalam Movie Artists Association) is not yet over, though a good beginning has been made. They were briefing the media post the first meeting with AMMA with regard to reinstating Dileep, the actor who was arrested for a 2017 case in which an actress was targeted.

“The discussion is still on”, said Parvathy. Meanwhile, Padmapriya said, “This is a first step and we hope for a healthy working space.”

Actor Revathy told the press that the three members had not come as members of WCC (Women in Cinema Collective), but as life members of AMMA. "We did not come as WCC members. We are here as life members of AMMA. We are still discussing."

Revathy closed the press meet on a positive note by saying, "We are having a very healthy discussion and that is the first step forward."

A furore erupted as AMMA tried to reinstate Dileep at its recent general body meeting. Soon, four women artistes, including the victim, submitted their resignations from AMMA. It was in the wake of their resignation that the trio of Revathy, Parvathy and Padmapriya wrote to AMMA demanding a meeting.
