Rajini's 2.0 all set to erase box office records

Yes, the all India box office records are set to be re-written! The Rajinikanth-starrer 2.0 has received terrific response on the release day. The film is said to have registered a spectacular 95 per cent occupancy during early morning shows down South on Thursday, while the average occupancy rate in North India was a decent 30 to 35 per cent.

The sci-fi thriller, directed by Shankar is touted to be the costliest Indian film made at a budget of Rs 600 crore.

Advance booking and release

2.0 released over 10,000 theatres worldwide in both 2D and 3D formats. While the screen count in India is above 7,500, the overseas screens is approximately over 2,500.

A record number of tickets were sold before the release of the movie. Reportedly, BookMyShow and Paytm alone sold 25 lakh tickets for the opening day.

It is belived that the makers have already earned over Rs 125 crore on the opening day at the worldwide box office.

Earlier, Baahubali 2, the multi-lingual film had collected an estimate of Rs 122.03 crore. Recently, Aamir Khan's Thugs of Hindostan had made over Rs 52 crore on the opening day.

Meanwhile, the full movie of 2.0 has been leaked online by Tamil Rockers merely hours after its release. The full movie is available online for 'free downloading'. Made with a mammoth budget, the film needs to have a strong and long run at the box office. The weekend collection will reflect the numbers.

Earlier, the teaser too had fallen prey to piracy. It was leaked hours before it was set to release online.
