Kuttikalodano Kali Ippu aka Alfeed

Ippu has become popular with the audience in the reality show, 'Kuttikalodano Kali' in Mazhavil Manorama. The little warrior is a seventh-standard student at Thodupuzha Government UP School. He shares his experiences.

How do you feel since you have now become a celebrity?

Most people recognize me when I go out and have good words for me. In my class, friends ask for my autograph.

What do you have to say about the show?

It is a nice show and is very competitive. Team spirit makes the show so much fun. Anchor Poornima is fun to be with and it is nice to hear her talk. She is very friendly with us.

Most people ask how kids are able to answer questions without even hearing the questions fully

The show moves on the lines of a quiz competition and most of us are experienced in such competitions. Although we hit the buzzer without hearing the full question, it is often a calculated risk and we are not right all the time. Mostly we assume the question, but often give the correct answers.

What do you have to say to such comments?

It is a credit for us because such doubts arise as we give right answers. If someone feels that the show is doctored, they can come and watch the show live or compete with us.

How do you prepare?

When there is no shooting, we revise weak subjects and in between shoots we share what we know well.

Have you taken part in quiz competitions?

Yes, in many competitions. I have not won any prizes though.

Why do kids in the show feel sad when they lose?

That’s because we have to prepare more for the competition. Obviously we feel sad when we fail after so much of preparations.

What are your hobbies?

Reading, oration and poetry. I also play badminton.

Do you prefer to be called Ippu or Alfeed?

I prefer being called Ippu because people often ask me the meaning of Alfeed. People also remember the name Ippu quite easily whereas I often have to spell out Alfeed for people to help them understand.

They say you are he most noisy among the kid warriors…

(Laughs) Since we are all friends, we do make some noise at the sets, nothing more than that.

Whom would you like to meet at the show?

I would be happy if given a chance to compete with G S Pradeep and Rahul Easwar.

Plans for the future?

I want to be a journalist.
