After a hiatus, Meera Jasmine, one of the most established actresses in Mollywood, is gearing up for her upcoming Malayalam flick 10 Kalpanakal. The actress, who has depicted many versatile characters on screen, tells Onmanorama how she changed her approach to life.
''Gone are the days when the old Meera in me used to be engrossed her own world,” she says.
''I was very sensitive and emotional person. I admit having frequent mood swings and could easily get angry and sad. At moments like that, I used to sit alone and think of all such things that made me feel depressed”.
''After my marriage, when I left for Dubai, it was a totally different world – new place, new people, new situations. Since young age, I used to depend a lot on people around me. But life in Dubai changed me”.
That's when she realized the need to figure out simple joys of life.
“When I was in Kerala, I was unable to enjoy the little things. Now, when I go to a mall in Dubai and have a coffee from a small cafe, I realize what I missed. Such little moments gives me pleasure. I feel relaxed. I now do all such things and make sure that it gives me satisfaction”.
Meera now realizes that there is no point in being short-tempered. And that bothering too much about many things are a waste of time.
Living life to the fullest is what is needed, she figured out.
''My mom is my biggest motivator in my life. When I see her smiling, I feel energized,” she says.
“'God has given you a talent, make use of it,” she always used to remind me in times of trouble.
“'Never misuse or waste the gift of God because of the people surrounding you,” these words of hers has been Meera's motivation in life.
''People surrounding us can directly or indirectly influence us. Of late, an eight-year old neighbour in Dubai, Kanishka, has influenced me. She is always happy the way she is and what she does. That has motivated me to do many things,” Meera pointed out.
For Meera, the key is to stay happy. And then it will be easy to realize that the world out there is indeed a “beautiful place to live”.
