Monday Motivation | Aparna Gopinath on following your heart

Aparna Gopinath

Aparna Gopinath, who enthralled audience with her varied roles in Charlie and ABCD (American Born Confused Desi), talks about an incident that changed her life.

"It happened a few years ago. I was just twelve years old," recalls the actress.

"After spending my vacation with my grandparents in Thiruvananthapuram, I told them about my wish to return to my home at Chennai alone. Initially, they didn't agree and later after much perusal and giving me too many advises, they allowed me to go.

"They sent me off in Chennai mail. Due to some repair works on railway tracks, the train got delayed for almost one-and-a-half day. My grandparents got so scared that they took a flight to Chennai and were anxiously waiting for my safe arrival along with my mom.

"While everyone was too much concerned about me, I managed to enjoy each moment in the train. I took out all the chips and other eatables that grandmother had packed for me, shared it with the passengers. I made many friends and had a gala time.

"I have done all sorts of crazy things and enjoyed every bit of it. Till now, I have shaved my head for about 34 times and still find it amazing. As long as doing something gives you happiness and satisfaction, why not do it?

"After graduation, I developed an interest in theaters and did all sorts of jobs. For that I never asked money from my mom. I did whatever I liked and earned in my own way. After all, what is life to live without that extra energy. Do what you love and yes, love what you do..."
