Piku starring stalwarts Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Irrfan is here! Quirky and funny with oodles of situational humour, the film highlights the eccentricities within every Indian family, told in Shoojit Sircar's signature style. Here are a few reasons why you should be 'spending your penny' on Piku.
1. The driving factor-cum-director
Shoojit Sircar's films have that perfect vibe. After Vicky Donor, Piku all set to be the director’s road and it looks like the odds are in its favour! Comedy can’t be just slapstick. Like Vicky, Piku too has a quirky idea but with a heart. Shoojith has an ability of connecting with the audience using his 'below the belt philosophies'.
2. 'Emotional Irrfan' and 'motional' Big B
From the promos and trailers, Amitabh Bachchan is seen playing a Bengali and undoubtedly the legend has done a mighty good job. Irrfan Khan has also shown a splendid performance. On top of it, the chemistry between Deepika and Irrfan will be something to look forward to.
3. Deepika aka Piku
The Om Shanti Om girl is professionally an architect in the movie but the posters and movie stills reflect on several characteristics of Deepika in the film. At one time, Deepika is a caring daughter, while another presents her as a strong independent lady, in yet another she appears in a traditional avatar and in some as a confused lass.
4. Musical 'journey'
Composer-lyricist-singer Anupam Roy, makes his debut in Hindi films, so there’s much to look forward to with six songs in total. While the Journey song, creates a happy mood, Lamhe guzar gaye is slow moving and contemplative. Each of the songs have been written beautifully adding meaning to the film.
5. 'Perfect' package
Piku is about a crazy father-daughter duo packaged with ingredients that make for a perfect family comedy. In fact the film is a quirky take on a father-daughter relationship and tells the tale of how we begin taking care of our parents as they get older. Prior to this film, Juhi Chaturvedi has only written the story, screenplay and dialogues for Vicky Donor. The movie, which was also directed by Shoojit Sircar, earned Juhi few awards and now if Piku follows the same pattern, it’s safe to say that we have a remarkable plot and execution to look forward to.
