Revathy to direct her first Malayalam feature film

Mumbai: After helming the role of a mother in Margarita With A Straw and 2 States, actress-Filmmaker Revathy said that she will soon be directing a full length Malayalam feature film.

Revathy, who last went behind camera in 2010 for her short story Parcel in anthology film Mumbai Cutting, is all set to start her new directorial, a Malayalam film, next year.

Earlier, in 2009, Revathy had also directed one of the segment Makal in Malayalam anthology Kerala Cafe which won wide critical acclaim and won the NETPAC award for the Best Malayalam feature Film at the International Film Festival of Kerala, 2009.

"The story that I have written fits the Malayalam scenario. I am a lucky onc who can make a Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam film as I connect with all the three languages," said Revathi, who is being lauded for her role in Margarita With A Straw.

Known for helming issue-based movies, filmmaker-actress Revathi says she'd love to direct a project on the lines of Zoya Akhtar's brand of cinema- like a Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

Revathi told IANS: "I would love to make the kind of films Zoya makes. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was an exceptional film. It also did well at the box office."

"I think it's a talent to write such a film. I don't know if I have the talent to write something like that, but let's see. I think it will take some time for me."

Revathi has directed films like Phir Milenge, Mumbai Cutting and Mitr.
