Mumbai: Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt will star in English Vinglish director Gauri Shinde's next film.
The movie will be produced by SRK's Red Chillies Entertainment, Karan Johar's Dharma and Hope Productions.
"Red Chillies Entertainment...Dharma and Hope Productions are proud to present Gauri Shinde's next starring...SHAH RUKH KHAN and ALIA BHATT..," Johar tweeted just hours after teasing fans with 'big announcement coming up...'
The announcement set Twitter abuzz with many sharing the news and in no time, it became a top trending topic.
Can't wait: Alia
Alia Bhatt said she can't wait to be directed by Gauri Shinde and star alongside 'the man himself' Shah Rukh Khan in the movie.
"Will no longer have any problem with my English Vinglish.. can't wait to be directed by Gauri Shinde with the man himself Shahrukh Khan," Alia posted on Twitter soon after Karan announced the new project.
Shinde, who is married to director R. Balki, shot to fame with her debut 2012 movie, starring Sridevi.
English Vinglish, which marked the comeback of Sridevi onto the big screen, found critical acclaim as well as the audience's love for telling a poignant tale of a woman who learns English in the quest of 'fitting in' the life of her husband and children.
Shinde had also given a hint about her upcoming project on the microblogging website.
"Yes, I am making my next film. Script done... well almost... Going on the floors soon. Looking forward to be back in action," Shinde had tweeted.
This will be Shah Rukh's first film with Alia, whose debut 'Student Of The Year' was co-produced by the 49-year-old. It will be interesting to see the duo star together as while SRK turns 50 in November, Alia is less than half his age.
Both the actors have big films in their kitty as of now. SRK has three films—Raees, Dilwale and Fan—lined up for release, and Alia, 22, has projects like Shaandaar, Udta Punjab and Kapoor and Sons in her kitty.
