United AMMA will seek to regain its integrity: Kukku

Actress Kukku Parameswaran, who is a member of the newly formed women’s cell in AMMA, said that the separate unit would address the various concerns of its women members. In a special interview with Onmanorama, Kukku pointed out that she was not concerned about what the other associations thought about the new wing or about the opinions shared on social media.

At the executive committee meeting which was held in Kochi on Sunday, it was decided that a special internal complaints cell would be formulated in AMMA with Kukku

Parameswaran, KPAC Lalitha and Kaviyoor Ponnamma as its members. President Mohanlal has informed the media about its cell at the presser yesterday. An urgent meeting of the executive committee was convened after the WCC made serious allegations the actors association at a recent press meet.

Joint effort

Confirming that the decision to form the special unit was taken in the executive committee’s meeting, Kukku said that they were called up and enquired whether they were ready to take up the responsibility.

Mohanlal has announced the names of the members after talking to the three actresses. “They have informed that a meeting would be held with us, though a date hasn’t been decided. Before that, the three of us who are the members of the cell need to meet and discuss about the various objectives of the unit. It is important for us to understand what they are expecting from us. It would be a joint effort to efficiently address the various issues raised by the women members,” noted Kukku.

No bother bout other bodies

Kukku made it clear that she wouldn’t bother addressing the criticisms raised on social media against the actors association. “I would have bothered had the allegations or criticisms were made by the members of association. AMMA is an independent association. It is up to us to solve the issues which are raised within it. Many would come up with their own opinions and criticisms through social media, without even being concerned about others’ privacy. We, however, are primarily concerned about the interests of AMMA’s members,” clarified the actress.

The actress said that she wasn’t concerned about other organisations and that it was the executive committee which takes decisions about such matters.

“I am least bothered about what happens in WCC or any other organisation for that matter. As far as I am concerned, my responsibility is towards AMMA. There is no point in saying that there is no faith in AMMA, even without lodging a complaint with the association. There isn’t any difference of opinions among the members of AMMA. This is in fact an effort to address the various concerns of its members. Here the primary importance is to secure the integrity of AMMA,” Kukku said.
