Kumbalangi Nights directed by debutant Madhu C Narayanan, is running into packed theaters gaining rave reviews from the audience and the critics alike.
Actors Fahadh Faasil, Nazriya Nazim, Soubin Shahir, Shane Nigam, Anna Ben, musician Sushin Syam, director Madhu C Narayanan and screen writer Syam Pushkar came together for a candid chat, in which they shared their experiences about making 'Kumbalangi Nights'.
Actor Fahadh Faasil shines in a negative role in the movie and is grabbing eyeballs. He admits that his character called Shammi is nothing similar to any other villain roles that he had done so far.
When asked whether Fahadh has any traits of Shammi, Nazriya Nazim, who is one of the film’s producers, jumped in and shouted 'no'. She playfully asked Fahadh to say so as she had to walk in front of the public.
Fahadh, meanwhile, said that he doesn't know anyone like Shammi in real life. He noted that it was for the first time that he had heard about a character like this. "I think there is a Shammi in all of us. A 'complete man' with dark shades in character. This is exactly what Syam Pushkar was trying to say," said Fahadh.
Actor – film maker Dileesh Pothen who is also one among the producers said that Fahadh, Nazriya, Syam and he had already decided to do a movie together.
Dileesh and the movie's director Madhu C Narayanan had worked as associates of noted film maker Aashiq Abu. "We had decided to stand behind Madhu as the producers of this movie. Now, we are extremely happy in every way," noted Dileesh.
"Syam and I have been pondering about the script of Kumbalangi Nights for quite some time. I gained confidence when Pothettan agreed to produce the movie. Everyone else supported a lot too. I believe that the film has turned out good. The fact that there are lots of people who wish to direct a movie with Syam's script made it even more challenging for me. However, everything went well when all of them stood with me," Madhu said.
Writer Syam Pushkar revealed that the story of Kumbalangi Nights had been in his mind for some time. He added that the characters too were developed during that time. Syam had told about it to Fahadh when he met the actor sometime later. Fahadh happily agreed to produce the movie and even said 'yes' to play a small character in it.
"Shane has done a brilliant job in the film. I am sure that his character in this movie would be a 'makeover' role for him. Shane has mostly done gloomy characters that are either troubled or have lots of liabilities. I think the weight of those characters have made him look a bit stern at this young age itself. But it will change this time. His character in the movie is exactly like him in real life," said Syam.
