Television actor Aneesh Ravi has entertained the Malayali audience with his quirky dialogues and impressive acting skills in many super hit serials. The characters village officer Mohanakrishnan and Kanakan in ‘Aliyan vs Aliyan have earned him a permanent position in the audience’s hearts. He has even shone as the anchor of many notable television shows. Aneesh gets candid about his unique experiences in the industry.
Aneesh has been active in the art and cultural fields from his school days onwards. “I hail from Manjadimoodu in Chirayinkeezhu which is close to the Sharkkara Devi temple. There are lots of art and cultural centers and clubs there. I actively took part in all the art and cultural events. When my teacher, in school, asked me what I wanted to become in life, I confidently said that I wanted to become an actor. I am grateful to God that it has happened,” said Aneesh.
Aneesh made his acting debut by essaying a minor role in the short film called Balikakkakal. Later, he acted in the serial Mohanam which was aired on Doordarshan. It was with this serial that Aneesh began to get noticed by the audience. “I consider it fortunate that I was able to essay Guru in the state award winning television serial ‘Sree Narayana Guru’,” noted the actor.
“I played the character named Vimal in the mega serial Minnukettu and that proved to be a breakthrough in my career. I didn’t have to look back after that. After Minnukettu, I shifted to the Tamil industry. I essayed the lead role in the super hit serial ‘Mekhala’ and then ‘Shanti Nilayam’. I committed Kaaryam Nissaram after that,” Aneesh explained.
Kaaryam Nissaram which told a single story in every episode was loved by the audience. The serial was written and directed by Unni Cheriyan. He played the lead role in the serial Moonnu Pennungal as well. Currently Aneesh stars in Aliyan vs Aliyan directed by Rajesh Thalachira.
“I faced death twice while shooting and I cannot forget those incidents. In one of the scenes in the serial Oppol, a house gets engulfed in fire. While filming that scene, the fire spread to my body as well. I received severe burns all over the body and was admitted in a hospital at Thiruvananthapuram for 28 days. Those were the moments when I thought that I wouldn’t be able to return to my normal life,” noted Aneesh.
Aneesh was shooting as the anchor for a television program, in Dubai. While jumping into a boat from the platform at the Dubai creek, he slipped and fell into the gap between the boat and the platform. He drowned twice and when he came up the third time, someone caught hold of his hand and pulled him up. A vein had cut open in his hand. Aneesh’s colleagues rushed him to the hospital.
“Everyone was wailing. At the hospital, when I was normal, I opened my wallet and pulled out my son’s photograph. I looked at it and couldn’t control my tears. I had drowned at a spot where lots of people had died. I was one of the very few who got saved,” revealed the actor.
In another incident, after filming for the movie ‘Kakki Nakshtram’, he was driving back home. Suddenly Aneesh fell asleep and a lorry bumped into the car from behind. “Though the car was completely destroyed, I survived. God has saved my life from three huge accidents,” says Aneesh.
Aneesh’s wife Jayalakshmi works at the PSC office. Adwait and Adwik are his sons.
