The people of Pandarathuruthu wakes up to a scenic waterfront every morning yet they throng the few public taps to draw drinking water. The irony sets the backdrop for the Domin D’Silva movie about the common man who seeks simple joys amid a harsh life.
The movie is peppered with humor and romance yet the story line is firmly stuck to the plight of a people who are denied the basic needs of life.
Neeraj Madhav has done a spectacular job in his portrayal of the protagonist, not to mention his energetic dance numbers. His performance is matched by leading lady Reeba Monica John. Sudhi Koppa and Appani Sharat lived up to their reputation.
The movie attempts to tell the interwoven stories of the people on the islet, represented by a slew of actors including Subeesh Sudhi, Jaffer Idukki, Tesni Khan, Aju Varghese, Rishi and Dharmajan.
Antony Jibin’s script sometimes tilted towards the cause it was committed to at the expense of the fun quotient. Pavi K Pavan’s camerawork deftly moves around the island and the islanders. Bijibal’s compositions add to the movie’s charm.
