Jayasurya's 'IDI' movie: quick review

After acting in movies like Double Barrel, Bangalore Days etc. Sajid Yahiya is set to establish himself as a director with IDI - Inspector Dawood Ibrahim. From the trailers and songs, IDI, seemed to be a very special directorial debut of Yahiya.

It is for the first time that Jayasurya is seen in a 'mass' police officer avatar. The movie, touted to be an out-and-out entertainer, is jointly written by Sajid Yahiya and Arous Irfan.

The film has been produced by Dr Ajas Ibrahim and Arun under the banner of Magic Lantern productions and Eros International.

Plot: The story is about Dawood Ibrahim (Jayasurya), a man from a wealthy family, who chooses to become an honest police officer.

First half: Although we have seen many cop movies, IDI is a laugh riot. It's funny and different. Initially, we are bound to wonder where the plot takes the viewer to but ultimately it makes absolute sense.

Second half: The performances by the stars and the spoof elements portrayed in the movie make it worth. The second half lacks clarity after an exciting beginning. While the treatment of IDI can create varied opinions among the audience, the movie stands out in a genre less-tried.
