Jayasurya's 'Pretham' movie: quick review

The much awaited Rajith Sankar movie with Jayasurya in the lead has hit the screens on Friday.

After delivering flicks like Su.. Su.. Sudhi Vathmeekam and Punyalan Agarbathis with Jayasurya, harping on the emotional notes, Ranjith Sankar this time chose a fun-filled horror subject.

The movie Pretham has Sruthi Ramachandran and Pearle Maaney in lead roles. Trailers and songs, released on You Tube, have already garnered positive feedbacks.

Central Pictures is distributing the film in about 91 screens in Kerala and it will be released in Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune and rest of India by Fox star studios.

Plot: Pretham revolves around three friends played by Aju Varghese, Govind Padmasoorya and Sharaffudin. The college friends have a motto: work hard till they hit 30. Enjoy a retirement after that. That’s how the friends get together, pool in money and buy a seaside resort. Soon, unpleasant things happen and John Don Bosco is thrown into the equation.

What works:

» Novel theme and unfamiliar protagonist

» Interesting plot and engaging narrative

» Good mix of humor and horror

» Perfect combo of Jayasurya, Aju, Sharaf and Govind

What doesn't work:

» Lack of enough twist in the end

» Not-up-to-the-mark performance by some of the supporting actors

Stay tuned for a detailed review.
