Ravindra Jain’s dedication and commitment sets him apart from many music composers in the current crop who keep complaining about trivial matters.
Ravindra, who never let anyone to be inconvenienced by him, stuck to this simple rule throughout his life that exemplified the modesty and purity of his character. He always respected his co-workers and acknowledged the efforts put in by them.
The following story defines his unparalleled dedication and how considerate he was: In 1973, Ravindra somehow managed to get Lata Mangeshkar, who was going through the busiest phase in her career, to sing in the movie Saudagar, which went on to become one of his greatest hits.
When he was about to record the song, the news of his father’s death came in. It came as a shock to everyone in the studio, including the producer, and they insisted on postponing the recording. However, Ravindra did not heed their requests and declared that the recording would be held as scheduled. He gently refused Lata Mangeshkar’s advice to return home as well, telling her that if they wound up the recording, the time and money of so many people would go to waste. Simply, he did not want to let others suffer from his personal loss.
Soon, his dedication and humility reaped rich dividends. The track Tera mera saath rahe.. which was recorded on the day his father died, became a chartbuster. To add to the delight, poetess Divya, who later became his life partner, fell in love with Ravindra after listening to this melodious song.
When she disclosed her love to Ravindra, who was born blind, he discouraged her saying that he did not want to darken someone else’s life. But she stood firm and revealed her wish to her mother, Nirmala, who was also a huge fan of Ravindra Jain’s songs. He could not reject the mother’s request to marry her daughter. They tied the knot within a few months, ending Divya’s eight-year-long wait. The couple has a son named Aayushman Jain.
