Malayalam cinema is now seeing more and more films with less number of songs; 3 tracks is the norm when filmmakers feel that anything more than that will hinder their storytelling. Shajahanum Pareekuttiyum belongs to the same school of thought with just two songs in it, even though the title, the trailer and the posters of the film spell 'entertainer'.
Gopi Sunder has composed one song while Nadhirsha has set the tune for the second one.

A song that Gopi Sunder can compose with his eyes closed and it will still sound just about good – that's 'Chithira Muthe'. The number takes off with some pleasant Gopi Sundar-ish beats with Vijay Yesudas and Divya Menon in charge of the vocals. The song takes a dappankuthu de-route in the anupallavi where actor Jayasurya makes his audio entry and we can't help but notice that he's is getting better with his crooning skills. The last portion in Hindi has Afzal singing it with some gunshots in sync with the rhythm. In 'Chithira Muthe', Gopi Sunder has stuck to his basics and delivered a minimum guarantee number.
♫ Mathurikkum Ormakale ♫ (Singers: Nadhirsha, Afsal and Tini Tom; Lyrics: Nadhirsha)
Who would you go to when you want a parody mix of evergreen Malayalam songs? Nadhirsha, obviously. In 'Mathurikkum Ormakale', he plays around with songs Malayalis know of and churns out an okay number that gels with Nadhirsha's brand of music. The composer has Afsal for company behind the mic and interestingly, Tini Tom as well, to vocalize a wee bit of English lyrics. The pipes toward the end is a fine add-on from Nadhirsha in this song, which is appreciable for its mix-mash but nothing more than that.
Verdict
Both the composers, Gopi Sunder and Nadhrisha, have done what they can do with minimal efforts on their musical creativity. Shajahanum Pareekuttiyum's music manages to pass the muster.
