In Ayurveda, each food item has unique characteristics and intensity. For instance, milk is usually cold in nature. However, buttermilk, which is a milk product, is relatively hotter in nature. Milk, which is cold, will not go well with fish that is hot in nature. Ayurveda talks about 18 such food items that are contradictory in nature.
Ayurveda states that one should be careful about three things while consuming curd directly or using it in dishes.
Never heat curd
The molecular structure of the curd will be altered if it is heated. Experts say that it could seriously affect your health. Consuming heated curd can cause lesions, suffocation, and swelling.
Not for dinner
It is better not to consume curd at night due to its cold nature.
Consume with green gram gravy or sugar when eating curd with rice. This enhances the nutrients in the curd.
