Kitchens smell badly despite regular cleaning as a few stuff and processes emit odours that may persist longer than we may expect.
Here are a few tricks to keep the kitchen fresh and stench-free.
Read on for quick fixes.
- To get the stench off your hands and the kitchen while cleaning fish, especially the very smelly varieties like sardines and pallathi (orange chromide), drop in a few leaves of pepper vine and rock salt to the water and rinse well. The smell disappears and the fish gets cleaned thoroughly.
- Rub plates, hands and sink with freshly cut lemon to get rid of the fish and chicken smell.
- If the smell still hangs over the kitchen, the best remedy is to boil some water with a spoonful of vinegar. The stench will disappear.
- If fish does not smell fresh, rub in a bit of salt and vinegar and keep for half an hour. This will bring the dirt out. Rinse in cold water.
- To remove the reek of onions off your palms and hands, rub them with a bit of coffee powder and wash thoroughly.
- Work the mixer grinder's jar with water and a few drops of dish wash liquid. Rinse in cold water to keep it clean and shiny.
