Anu Sithara cooks special 'thalippu' for Iftar

Actress Anu Sithara loves assisting her mother Ruqiyya in the kitchen, cooking delicious dishes and learning unique recipes. In a latest video posted on the social media, the actress and her mother prepares the traditional 'thalippu' which is pumpkin leaves cooked in rice water.

Anu recalls her grandmother introducing this delicious and nutritious dish to her when she was little. In her childhood days, it was difficult for her to eat the customary pre-dawn meal during the month of Ramadan. So, her grandmother used to cook the thalippu which is light on the stomach and tastes amazing with rice.

While Anu and her mother are busy cooking the thalippu, her younger sister Anu Sonara joins the duo with songs as well. Have a look at the very simple recipe of the nutritious pumpkin leaves thalippu.  

Ingredients
Pumpkin leaves as required (roots removed)
Garlic
Shallots
Green chillies
Rice water
Coconut oil

Preparation
Heat coconut oil in a pan
Sauté the shallots and garlic
Add green chillies
After these have sautéed well, pour in the rice water
Add salt as required
Finally add the finely chopped pumpkin leaves
Mix well
Cook until the leaves are tender and darker in colour.
