Parippu-gothambu payasam

A delicious payasam is what completes the rich and elaborate Onam platter. Loaded with the goodness of jaggery and coconut milk, this lentils and broken wheat payasam is extravagant, incredibly tasty and satisfying. Check out this easy recipe of parippu-gothambu payasam.

Ingredients
1 ½ coconut
150 ml first extract of coconut milk
300 ml second extract of coconut milk
600 ml third extract of coconut milk
50 gm yellow moong dal (roasted)
50 gm broken wheat
50 gm chambavari rice
300 gm melted jaggery
3 tbsp ghee
2 tbsp coconut shards
¼ cup ghee
1 tbsp raisins
1 tbsp cashews
2 tsp cardamom powder

Preparation
Cook the roasted yellow moong dal, broken wheat and chambavari rice
Into it add the melted jaggery and ghee. Sauté well
Add the third extract of coconut milk and boil until it thickens up
Now add the second extract of coconut milk and allow it to thicken
Lastly, add the first extract of coconut mix, give it a good mix and take the payasam of the heat
Heat ghee and roast the coconut shards, raisins and cashews
Garnish the payasam with these and cardamom powder.
