'Pidi' is Malayalam for rice balls and these chewy steamed balls can absorb the spicy masala of any meat dish, giving a unique dish each time. Try out this unique recipe of beef aavi pidi which has bags full of flavour in it.

Ingredeints
1 ½ kg beef (cut into pieces)
2 tsp chilli powder
Turmeric powder as required
2 tbsp coriander powder
½ tsp black pepper powder
1 tsp fennel powder
1 ½ tsp beef masala
1 tsp garlic (crushed)
1 tsp green chillies (crushed)
1 tsp ginger (crushed)
1 onion (chopped)
2 tomatoes (diced)
4 bunches curry leaves
2 ½ cups rice flour
½ cup coconut (roasted and ground)
Coconut oil as required
1 tbsp shallots (chopped)
A bunch of curry leaves
2 tsp coriander leaves (chopped)

Preparation
Cook the beef with chilli powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder, fennel powder, coriander powder, beef masala, garlic, green chillies, ginger, onions, tomatoes, curry leaves and salt as required
Do not overcook the beef as it would make it dry
Add salt and hot water into rice flour and mix it into dough
Make small balls from it, press gently in the centre with your finger and cook it in the steam for 20-25 minutes
When these steamed rice balls have cooled down, add the roasted coconut
Mix well
Heat oil in a pan
Add the shallots and curry leaves
When these are sautéed, add the steamed rice balls with coconut mixture
Mix well
Into it add the cooked beef and mix everything well together
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
