Crispy murukku is the perfect snack to be enjoyed with a glass of hot tea in the evening. Replace maida with wheat for a relatively healthy snacking. Here is how you can easily prepare tasty wheat murukku at home.

Ingredients
1 cup wheat flour
½ cup urad dal
1.5 tsp chilli powder
¾ tsp dried ginger powder
½ tsp sesame seeds
½ tsp ajwain
½ tsp cumin
½ tsp pepper powder
A pinch of asafetida
2 tsp oil
Salt to taste
Water as required
Oil to fry

Preparation
Steam the wheat flour for 10 minutes to easily crumble the lumps
Dry roast the urad dal and grind them into fine powder
Mix the urad dal powder into the wheat flour
Add the chilli powder, dried ginger powder, pepper powder, asafetida, sesame seeds, ajwain, cumin and salt
Mix well
Add some oil as well
Now, pour water as required and mix into dough
Fill a murukku mould with this dough
Squeeze this dough in circular shapes onto a plantain leaf first
Fry these murukku in hot oil until they turn light golden in colour.
