Grilled Tilapia

Grilled Tilapia

Gift tilapia is a variety of fish that is mostly farmed in ponds or large tanks. This fleshy fish tastes amazing when cooked over the grill. In case you don't have a grill grate at home, it is easy to make a DIY grill using a few items. You could make a grill using wire mesh, a cement pan and a few blocks of interlocking bricks that are paved on the ground or pavements.

The gift tilapia should be cleaned and scored well so that it absorbs the marinade nicely. You could use coals or burnt coconut shells for the grill. Camphor and an oil cloth could be used to ignite the DIY grill. Build a makeshift stove using the interlocking blocks and place the cement plan on it. Cover the pan with the wire mesh. Burn coconut shells in the pan and when the fire rises add the coals. Fan the coals to burn them well.

Ingredients
3 big tilapias
4 tsp chilli powder
2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp pepper powder
Salt as required
1 cup coconut oil
2 tsp vinegar

Preparation
Prepare the marinade by mixing the chilli powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder, salt, and vinegar
Marinate the fishes with it
Place the marinated fishes over the wire mesh
Rub coconut oil on the fishes using a sprig of curry leaves
After 10 minutes flip the fishes and rub coconut oil
If the skin comes off while flipping, apply the marinade and grill again
The grilled tilapia would be ready in just 10 minutes.
