Mango pavakka peera salad aka Mango, bitter gourd and coconut salad is a perfect side dish for meals and also goes well with boiled tapioca. Though not a spicy dish, the flavour of mango and bitter gourd make it special for a sumptuous treat. Here is the recipe to try this New Year:
Ingredients
1 raw mango (cut into thin pieces)
2 bitter gourds (cut into thin slices)
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1 onion (sliced)
2 bunches of curry leaves
1/2 coconut (grated)
2 green chillies (sliced)
Salt as required
1 inch ginger (thinly sliced)
Preparation
Season the bitter gourd slices with salt
Squeeze the bitter gourd
Heat oil in a pan
Add mustard seeds
When the mustard seeds splutter, add grated coconut, bitter gourd, onion, raw mango pieces, curry leaves, ginger and salt as required
Mix well
Cook with the lid on.
