Potato onion bajji

From the point of view of a nice hot cup of tea, crunchy fried onions and potatoes are just the right bite interludes, especially during the monsoons.

Ingredients

2-3 onion, sliced round and slightly thick

3 potatoes, sliced round and slightly thick

1 cup gram flour

½ cup rice flour

½ tsp chilli powder

Salt, as required

½ tsp asafoetida

½ tsp baking soda




Preparation

Pass gram flour to a bowl

Add rice flour

Add the chilli powder, salt and asafoetida powder

Mix well to a thick batter. Do not add more water, the batter shouldn't be loose

Add the baking soda at this point and mix well

Heat enough oil to fry in a pan

Take the onion and potato pieces alternatively, smear with the thick batter and deep fry in oil
