CNN Travel lauds Kerala's own prawns curry as a must-try dish

Kerala became one of the 19 places picked by CNN travel this year for travel lovers to visit in 2019. Other than seven Kerala destinations, Kerala's own prawns curry has also found mention in the report which has identified it as the signature dish of Kerala. Take a break from heavy meat platters and try out these soft and chewy prawns bathed in creamy gravy that boasts of a unique nutty flavor. Flavored with cashew nut and coconut paste, this yummy korma is the best thing that you can have with paratha or roti for lunch and dinner as a side dish.

Ingredients
1/2 kg prawns
1 tomato chopped
1/2 cup fried onions
2 tbsp ghee
1/2 cup curd
1/2 cup grated coconut
2 tbsp cashew nuts
2 tbsp garlic paste
2 tbsp ginger paste
1 tsp chili powder
2 tbsp coriander powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp garam masala
Salt as required
3 tbsp coriander leaves
2 green chilies, slit
Half of a lemon

Preparation
Heat a pan, pour ghee into it
Add garlic paste to the pan and saute well
Add chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and mix well
Add chopped tomato to this and saute well
Add ginger paste
Now add fried onions to the pan and mix well
Add salt and coriander leaves
Add prawns to the pan and fry a bit
Now add curd to the prawns and mix well
Add garam masala
Cover the pan with a lid and cook for five minutes
Now remove the lid
Add ground coconut and cashew nut mixture
Stir well
Add green chilies
Squeeze half a lemon to the curry
Prawns korma is ready to be served
