¼ cup urad dal
4 pinches baking powder
¼ tsp orange/red food colour
Oil as required
¾ cup water

Preparation
Soak the idly rice and urad dal for at least 4 hours
Wash it well and grind it without adding too much water
Into it add baking powder and orange/red food colour and mix well
Boil sugar and water in a pan
When the sugar syrup is boiled and thick, take it off the flame
Heat oil and add half spoons of batter as small balls
Fry these balls and drop it in the sugar syrup
Set it aside for at least 15-20 minutes
Roll these candies in sugar granules and store in air tight containers.

Notes
The candy balls should be dropped in hot sugar syrup else they will shrink.
