Navratri special: Aval vilayichathu

Aval vilayichathu is a tasty sweet dish that is cooked during the Navratri festivities. Moreover, it is extremely nutritious and can be enjoyed as evening snacks as well. Check out the recipe.  

Ingredients

150 gms flattened rice

1 tsp ghee

150 gms jaggery (melted into syrup)

1 cup grated coconut

3 cardamom pods (crushed)

Preparation

Heat ghee in a pan and fry the flattened rice for two minutes

Into it add the jaggery syrup

Mix and stir until the flattened rice are coated well with jaggery

It should turn a dry mixture

Now add the crushed cardamom

Finally add the grated coconut as well

Give everything a good mix.
